Abstract: L’opera del regista francese Daniel Mesguich mostra una volontà di svelare in scena i meccanismi del lavoro teatrale, collegando ogni testo all’intera tradizione costituita dalle sue varie realizzazioni e interpretazioni. La citazione, inserendo personaggi o scene provenienti da altri testi, si impone allora come un procedimento essenzialmente metateatrale.
The work of the French director Daniel Mesguich shows the will to reveal theatrical mechanisms, establishing a connection between each text and the whole tradition of its various productions and interpretations. Thus, by including characters or scenes from other texts, quotation becomes an essentially metatheatrical process.
