Abstract: There is an ongoing debate about the most effective methods of promoting healthy diets and there is a need for clear definition to describe healthy or unhealthy foods. Nutrient profile of foods is fast becoming the basis of regulating nutrition labels, health claims, marketing and advertising to children. In the present paper we have carried out an on-line survey of a group of nutrition professionals to create a standard ranking of the healthiness of some foods more representative of the Italian diet.
