| it |
dc.description.abstract | Subject of research has been the choice of "Images" during and immediately after the years of schism between two popes, Anaclet II and Innocent II (1130-1138). In particular, the investigation focused sull'Aquitania, the only big French area where the most important Roman Church delegate, the bishop Gerard II of Angouleme, and the duke Willelm X chose to support the antipope Anaclet II. French literature insists reading schism as a sort of "final chapter" of the Gregorian Reform. This determinated a too ample "images" interpretation of the decades of the schism. Research has shown however that important aquitanian buildings are better understandable only if read in the very strict historical background of schism and his immediately consequences. A very important aspect is the contemporary antijudaism, and this is a fundamental aspect to understand totally the façades of the Angouleme cathedral or of the NOtre-Dame-la-Grande in Poitiers. Finally emerged the finding that only crossing history and art history in a new and conscious way we can read the "image" choises in Aquitaine during the years of schism free by outdated historiographical interpretations. | it |
