Morbo di Alzheimer e demenze : review e nuove frontiere in ambito diagnostico, eziopatogenetico e preventivo-terapeutico

Abstract

La Malattia di Alzheimer (MA) è la demenza più diffusa a livello mondiale; è considerata, insieme alle altre patologie dementigene, la 7° causa di morte al mondo e conta circa 55 milioni di persone affette, che si stima arriveranno a circa 130 milioni entro il 2050, rendendola una priorità mondiale per la salute pubblica. Vista l’attuale importanza dell’argomento, è risultato utile poter fare una review, accompagnata da diversi articoli scientifici, su ciò che riguarda le conoscenze assodate e le nuove frontiere di ricerca relative ad essa, con un excursus che parte da uno sguardo generale sulle demenze e sulla MA stessa, per poi restringere sempre di più il campo visivo sul versante clinico e neuropsicologico, neurofisiopatologico ed eziopatogenetico e sulle prospettive terapeutico-preventive della patologia.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is the most widespread dementia worldwide; it is considered, together with other dementia-related diseases, the 7th cause of death in the world and has around 55 million people affected, which is estimated to reach around 130 million by 2050, making it a global priority for public health. Given the current importance of the topic, it was useful to be able to do a review, accompanied by various scientific articles, on what concerns the established knowledge and the new research frontiers relating to it, with an excursus that starts from a general look at the dementias and on AD itself, to then increasingly narrow the field of vision on the clinical and neuropsychological, neurophysiopathological and etiopathogenetic aspects and on the therapeutic-preventive perspectives of the pathology.
