In assenza
The "intersubjectivity" construct remains today one of the most illustrative elements regarding the importance of the first significant relationship between mother and child as regards the psychological, emotional and relational child’s development. In the context of epigenetics, the comparison between the stimuli offered by the mother and the surrounding environment in the first moments of life is an element of fundamental importance for the correct development of the baby; it allows you to develop the idea of your neighbor as an “other-Self” to interface with, with whom you can enter a relationship and from which you can learn and understand. The "intersubjectivity" construct is a striking example of what it means to be at the center of neurobiology, psychology, epigenesis, environment and relationship with the other. Indeed, what could be more neurobiological than the development of the embryo's nervous system, more psychological than the development of a new mind, more epigenetic than a new identity that develops itself in an environment characterized by the relationship with another self. The child's brain that grows and develops, is from the beginning at the mercy of an infinitesimal number of stimuli such as sounds, voices, touches, vibrations, which are essential for the correct formation of the entire biological system. It is therefore essential to describe the child within the metaphor of the seed and the soil, in the nature-nurture debated, as an element that grows in a soil with specific characteristics and which will instill a precise trajectory within its epigenetic landscape (Valenza & Turati, 2019). In the total or partial absence of such stimulations, the body can only develop with impacting diversities, according to epigenetic principles, evolving as it can and with the elements at its disposal. The relationship with the caregiver, defined as primary, can be tested by numerous factors that can affect the child's cognitive and relational abilities, to create solid bases for future relationships with others. The stressful situations to which the mother is subjected, pre-, peri-, or postnatal traumas, and diseases, are fundamental factors that must be considered, and which cannot be underestimated. It is at this point of development that the main inter-individual differences arise, the different strategies of stress reactions implemented, but also the differences at the cortical level, the different concentrations of hormones and the predispositions to the disease. This work has the aim of exploring the possible changes that a mother-child dyad undergoes and the relational child’s development, if the latter is subjected to the "preterm birth" event. Specifically, skills related to the ability to facing stress, emotion regulation and resilience were investigated, skills strictly correlated with the development of the primary relationship typical of the dyad and associated with the mother-child intersubjective bond. Following a neurocostructivist perspectiove, it has been hypothesized that both environment and experience that characterizes preterm birth can have a strong impact and therefore drop consequences for the development of these abilities, constituting differences in these constructs in the dyads that were directly protagonists. |
