Ultrasonography is a non-invasive diagnostic technique performed increasingly on a daily basis in veterinary medicine. In equine species, transparietal abdominal ultrasounds can be used as diagnostic aids during abdominal colics, which still constitute a troublesome condition of significant importance in this species. This dissertation analyses the main alterations detected by ultrasound scans, involving mainly the gastrointestinal system, which is implicated in the etiopathogenesis of horse colic.en_US
