Abstract: Il presente elaborato riguarda linguaggio, narrazione e storytelling nello sviluppo del bambino.
This paper talks about Language, Narration and Storytelling in child’s development. It is divided into three chapters. The first is about the different stages in the development of the child's linguistic abilities, in particular the theoretical hypotheses, the neural circuits underlying the language, the prelinguistic and linguistic communication. Furthermore, is treated the evolution and the birth of the language from the point of view of the mirror system’s development in man. Finally, are defined the characteristics of the development of narrative skills in the child. This last paragraph introduces the topic of the second chapter, which deals with a shared reading mode: the storytelling. An example of research is presented, aiming to examine whether a practice of storytelling (and story-acting), integrated as a component of the preschool curriculum, can help to promote three key dimensions of children's school preparation: narrative and linguistic skills, literacy and social competence. In conclusion, are described the interactions that are created between the variables intervening in this process, the child-adult-book interactions, and the narrative styles of the bookreader. In conclusion, in the third and last chapter, is presented a study on shared reading with children with autism, aiming to explore the effectiveness of manipulative books to promote language improvement.
