Efficacia di un modello riabilitativo cognitivo-relazionale applicato a cani con patologie comportamentali

Abstract

In this dissertation are developed several aspects of a cognitive-relational rehabilitation model. It takes into consideration the behavioral characteristics of the dog and the relationship between dog and family group, in order to formulate a diagnosis and set up a treatment if a behavioral disorder has been found. Some dogs may exhibit inappropriate behaviors, which generate tension and embarrassment to the owner. In particular this is evident if these problems interfere with daily life and social relations, creating unease for family members and strangers. It’s important to be able to distinguish between the normal and the pathological behavior of the dog. This study presents a sample of 32 dogs observed from March to October 2019, according to the method developed by Dr. Possenti Marzia and D’Ovidio Miriam at ARCA veterinary clinic (Cassano D’Adda). The purpose is to estimate the effectiveness of this model through the observation of ease and discomfort signals emitted by patients during group work sessions, which represent a decisive part of the therapy. After the follow-up was detected a gradual decrease in the signs of discomfort and a gradual increase in the ease signals manifested by dogs. Furthermore there has been an increase in the ability of owners to read dog behavior, with improvement and consolidation of the dog-family group relationship.
