Prospettive di psicopatologia comparata

Abstract

Gli animali, principalmente roditori e, in misura minore, primati non umani, sono stati spesso utilizzati per la ricerca di base e farmacologica relativa alla psicopatologia umana. A questo scopo sono stati trattati chirurgicamente e farmacologicamente o esposti ad alterazioni del loro ambiente di vita, sociale e/o fisico, per verificare ipotesi in grado di fornire un modello sufficientemente affidabile e utile per l'essere umano. Questo lavoro vorrebbe portare l'attenzione sulla potenziale utilità per lo studio e la comprensione della psicopatologia umana, di un approfondimento della ricerca, secondo un’ottica evoluzionistica, su patologie comportamentali che si sviluppano "spontaneamente" negli animali, in risposta a condizioni ambientali troppo restrittive e lontane dai loro bisogni etologici.

Animals, mainly rodents and, to a lesser extent, non-human primates, have often been used for basic and pharmacological research related to human psychopathology. For this purpose they have been treated surgically and pharmacologically or exposed to alterations in their living environment, social and/or physical, to verify hypotheses capable of providing a sufficiently reliable and useful model for the humans. This work would like to draw attention to the potential utility for the study and understanding of human psychopathology, of a deepening of research, according to an evolutionary perspective, on behavioral pathologies that develop "spontaneously" in animals, in response to environmental conditions too restrictive and far from their ethological needs.
