It's known that social robots can enhance humor, emotional expression and social relationships among patients with dementia and that they can be used to treat children in the autistic spectrum: to enhance their social abilities, shared attention, turn taking and emotion understanding in other people. In classrooms they can be used to improve learning and problem-solving, math or science skills. They can also assist users in airports and supermarkets or they can keep company at home. They have been specifically designed to recognize faces and therefore they can call people by their name. They can "read" basic emotions and therefore shape their behavior considering other people's mood. It is also known that the mirror circuit, responsible for the social interaction, is activated during human-robot interaction, which suggests that humans can consider them as real companions with intentions. Considering all these possibilities, why aren't we yet surrounded by humanoids that help us or keep us company? To try to answer this question, we have introduced a humanoid robot NAO H25 in a Memory Training course for MCI patients in a Center for Cognitive Impairment and Dementia, to make it execute different Cognitive Therapy exercises supporting the psychologist that normally offers the course. Different measures were taken regarding the patient's neuropsychological status and the efficacy and usability of the robot, and after developing the applications used with three different groups of patients, improving them and making them more versatile, less schematic, we have found that an adequate way to introduce a robot in a real environment is redesigning, readapting and retrying exercises in a cyclic way, observing and using feedback of an exersise to make it more variable and close to human behavior, until a point is reached in which NAO is able to move autonomously in such environment without the need of interventions of the operator.
