Quando gli specchi tradiscono le immagini. Riflessi rubati nelle distopie del XX secolo

Abstract

Gli stati totalitari rappresentati nelle narrazioni distopiche del Novecento utilizzano come strategia retorica l’incarnazione del Potere in un oggetto–corpo irrappresentabile ma operante, il cui corpo scorporeizzato ha come senso fondamentale quello della vista. Teleschermi e telecamere onnipresenti in 1984 e nell’opera fumettistica/cinematografica V per vendetta agiscono come specchi imperfetti, solo in entrata, non restituiscono l’immagine riflessa ma la trattengono, sottraendone la proprietà ai soggetti osservati. Questo furto conduce a un potenzialmente infinito sdoppiamento dell’immagine ripresa, tramite la sua conservazione, riutilizzo e contraffazione. Il potere dello Stato-antagonista resta invece invisibile, i suoi specchi-spia dissociano la coppia vedere/essere visti, creando un rapporto di controllo a favore di chi esercita la prima funzione. Il riscatto degli individui non può che avvenire utilizzando gli stessi strumenti: facendo registrare i riflessi di volti nascosti, falsificati, sdoppiati, moltiplicati.

The totalitarian States, which are represented in the dystopian narrations of the Nineteen Century, use as a strategic rhetoric the personification of the Power in a body-object that it could not be represented, but it is operative at all. This un-corporal body has the sight as the first sense. Screens and cameras are all-present in 1984 and in the comics and movie V for vendetta, they act as defective mirrors because they run only for entry: they do not give back the mirrored image, they hold back it, stealing its property from the reflected subjects. This misappropriation leads to a potential unlimited decoupling of the shot image, by its conservation, re-use and counterfeiting. Instead, the power of the antagonist-State remains invisible, its spy-mirrors disassociate the pair seen/see, and that creates a control connection in favour of the second term. The redemption of the individuals could be possible only using the some vehicles: mirroring and getting recorded reflections of hidden, falsified and decoupled faces.
