Sophie Calle. Autoritratto allo specchio: abbi cura di te

Abstract

Nel 2007 il Padiglione della Francia ai Giardini della Biennale di Venezia era occupato da Prenez soin de vous di Sophie Calle. L‟opera è basata su un‟e-mail ricevuta dall‟artista dal suo compagno (in cui l‟uomo pone fine alla loro relazione) che Calle sottopone a centosette donne chiedendo loro di analizzarla e interpretarla in base alla loro specifica professionalità. Abbiamo scelto questa installazione per proporre un affondo sulla ricerca dell‟artista francese leggendola e interpretandola alla luce del nostro tema, quello dello specchio: “riflessi e sdoppiamenti”. Contestualizzando quest‟opera nella sua produzione artistica in rapporto al ruolo della scrittura e della narrazione e all‟uso dell‟arte quale strumento terapeutico, emerge infatti come Prenez soin de vous rappresenti un frammento chiave e imprescindibile per comprendere e ricostruire quella sorta di grande e sfuggente autoritratto dipinto e ridipinto, scritto e riscritto che caratterizza, grazie all‟innesco autobiografico, in un‟anamorfosi contemporanea, una parte significativa della sua ricerca.

In 2007 the France Pavilion in Giardini of the Biennale di Venezia was occupied by Prenez soin de vous, a work by Sophie Calle. This project was based on an email received by the artist from her lover (in which the man puts an end to their relationship) that Calle submits to one hundred and seven women, asking them to analyze and interpret it according to their specific professional skills. We chose this installation to propose an insight into the French artist's research by reading and interpreting it in the light of our theme, the mirror: "reflections and doublings". Our aim is to contextualize this work in her artistic production in relation to the role of writing and storytelling and the use of art as a therapeutic tool, underlining how Prenez soin de vous represents a fundamental fragment key to understand and reconstruct the big and elusive self-portrait painted and repainted, written and rewritten, which characterizes, through the autobiographical trigger, a significant part of her research in a contemporary anamorphosis.
