| it |
dc.description.abstract | Some of the characteristic traits of short fiction, such as allusion, ellipsis and intertextuality, make Don Quixote a privileged book inasmuch as it achieves the necessary dialogue between writing and reading. The large presence of this book in Latino-American short fiction is patent in different ways. First, its readers experience a metamorphosis similar to that affecting Don Quixote, and lose their minds while altering their identities. Secondly, the author's game goes on – as if echoing Borges' style – and he attributes his writing to different creators. Thirdly, the initial quote of Don Quixote is embedded in the new text, modifying its original meaning. Finally, a well-known episode can be rewritten in order to provide an explanation, to modify it or to reinterpret the characters' motivations. | it |
