dc.description.abstract---------- This contribution is arranged in two sections: firstly, we argue about the large blank on the left edge of P.Tebt. 269 – a fragment of an unknown prose work dated to the 2nd century AD. This looks like the blank space that normally precedes the first column of writing (the agraphon). Rolls with literary works often had an unwritten part (agraphon) at their beginning. Therefore the papyrus should be considered as a new record for this book technique which was employed especially during the Roman age. Secondly, we compare P.Tebt. 269 to P.Ryl. 514, which is part of a 2nd century AD prose work of unknown provenance and author. Even if the two papyrus fragments have not been yet considered together, their handwriting and content show close similarity and can then be placed together. The possibilities are that they have been written by the same scribe or that the fragments belong to the same roll.it
